Sola Scriptura: Do You Really Believe?

Talked a bit about a few current events at the start (played video from Mars, for example), but the focus today was on sola scriptura, what it means, why it is central, and why I am simply stunned to see men I used to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with using the phrase as a throw-away joke line on Twitter. Please listen and consider well!

Thanksgiving Thoughts, the PWC
James White, November 21, 2024November 21, 2024, Christian Worldview, Misc, Pastoral Theology, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters Did my usual Thanksgiving thing and pointed out that it should, in fact, be “usual” for Christians to give thanks and to live in a state of thanksgiving. Then we looked at the new “thing” to be all excited about, “The PWC,” the post-war consensus. What is it, how do you define it, and how did it become the central issue in just a matter of a few months? Not sure when the next DL will be as I will be pulling out over the weekend, have long driving days, and next Thursday is Thanksgiving (official). Keep an eye on the A&O app for announcements!

Leaked Roe, Cameron Bertuzzi and Isaiah 22
James White, May 3, 2022May 3, 2022, Church Fathers, Church History, Debate, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Apologetics, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters Back in the regular studio for the first time in over a month! Wow, glad to be in the old digs again. Anyway, had to talk a bit about the leaked SCOTUS decision about Roe and the explosion of simple demonic activity all around us. Then we started reviewing some comments made by Cameron Bertuzzi related to Roman Catholicism and in particular the papacy. We eventually got to his comments on Isaiah 22, and finished focusing upon what it means to have peace with God.

Started off with a personal response to Andy Stanley on his apologizing for Christians seeking to apply “Christian rules” to non-Christians, and then looked a bit at Reuben Swanson’s books on the text of the NT (in reference to Thomas Ross’ use thereof), finishing with a read-through of Brett Mahlen’s chapter on why he adopted TR Onlyism.
