Road Trip: Debate, Why Calvinism? Conference, The Reformed Doctrine of Atonement is Biblical and Important, Jason Breda, South Jackson Civic Center, Tullahoma, Tennessee, 2/24/24

Took some great Zoom calls today discussing the vine and the branches in John 15, MBTS, the Great Tradition, and Thomas (took a long time on this one), and then the Trinity, the Cross, “inseparable operations,” etc. Let’s just say certain quarters will be talking after this program! Last show in studio for a while: starting next week a mixture

Road Trip Morning Dividing Line

We lost our server for the first 14 minutes, but ol’ got us back up and running. Pierre, our LDS listener, called in, prompted once again to defend our Arminian friends by yesterday’s program responding to Dr. O’Guin’s attack on “Calvinism.” Always interesting to listen to a discussion with Pierre on soteriological issues, always coming back to sola scriptura.

Pre-Debate Road Trip Dividing Line from Houston

Most of my readers are familiar with BaptistFire.com, the conservative Baptist website that is, sadly, likewise rabidly anti-Reformed, grossly one-sided, and anonymous as to who is involved in promulgating its articles. Well, a number of folks have gotten together to launch www.StrangeBaptistFire.com, a website which will debunk the constantly misleading, imbalanced, and often easily refuted materials posted on BaptistFire.com. Now,

Road Trip DL: Francis, Cernovich, then Back to Carl Trueman and Development of Doctrinal Expression

Over the last few years I’ve focused on current popular Catholic apologists, that is, those whose names you may hear on Catholic Answers, or find on The Journey Home. In order to be familiar with Catholic argumentation, the best way to do so is to actually hear them make their own arguments and interpretations of Catholic doctrine.    I purchase their

Last DL in Phoenix Before Trip: Roman Catholic Arguments

Head out on Friday (I keep saying Lord willing, and I mean that), so hopefully our next edition will be on the road, possibly on Monday. Played segments from a video from the pastor of “Zootown Church” in Missoula, Scott Klaudt where he repeated a whole string of utterly indefensible falsehoods about the Reformation, Rome, etc., and then played a brief portion of Trent Horn’s second rebuttal in his debate with Gavin Ortlund on sola scriptura, looking specifically at the common error of ignoring the diversity in Rome while focusing upon it amongst “Protestants.” If you would like to help support this upcoming trip, please pray for my health (not starting off on the best foot, I have to admit), and support the Travel Fund here. Thank you!

Provisionist Palaver, Trent Horn on Argumentation, A Few Moments with Carl Trueman and Doctrinal Development

For those interested, we will be covering three texts of Scripture on Thursday: John 6, Romans 8/9, and Ephesians 1. Each will have 8 minutes to provide their exegesis of the text; then we will have four minutes of cross-ex each, then three minute conclusions before moving on to the next text. I know, not a lot of time, but

A Little Bit on Infants, a Little Bit on Alistair, the Rest with More Carl Trueman

We made it all the way through the cross-examination portion of the debate today, waiting, breathlessly, for the “painfully obviously” demonstration of the unbiblical nature of the arguments made against Rome’s veneration of Mary, saints, and angels. We haven’t encountered it yet. Today, though, we did get a fair amount of discussion of ultimate authorities, and saw, once again, the

Lots of Short Topics, Andrew Fuller and the Reality of Death, then Back to Carl Trueman

Well, we set new records for connections to our Real Audio server and had at least 62 people in channel at one point (maybe more when I wasn’t paying attention) during the program today, proving, with overwhelming evidence, that Tom Ascol should be the host of the Dividing Line! But since I haven’t asked Tom to start doing that, I

Dr. Carl Trueman’s Inaugural Address at the Center for Classical Theology

Started to listen to and interact with Dr. Carl Trueman’s inaugural address at the Center for Classical Theology. Got into the heart of the matter, Scripture, tradition, authority, etc., after playing a number of statements that were insightful, useful, and edifying. Will continue on Thursday! You can listen to the lecture here.

Radio Free Geneva! Flowers, McGrew and that Other Guy, then Gregory Boyd

James White, January 18, 2024January 18, 2024, Homosexuality, Open Theism, Provisionism, Radio Free Geneva, Reformed Apologetics, The Dividing Line, Transinsanity We premiered the new video opening by Tim Bushong for Radio Free Geneva! So there is a new addition to the clips including in A Mighty Fortress, and then Jeff Durbin did the new closer about our new bunker under Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. We started with a one minute video from Leighton Flowers including some of the most absurd assertions by Warren McGrew. Then we moved to an almost ten minute presentation against Calvinism by Gregory Boyd from a number of years ago. Then right at the end, I took the time to address, briefly, the controversy that erupted yesterday over comments by Alistair Begg in an interview four months ago wherein he counseled a grandmother to attend the wedding of a grandchild “marrying” a transgender person.
