The Changing World of Mormonism

Went in the big studio today to talk about Mormonism and the challenges we face today in seeking to witness of the truth to members of the LDS Church. Did a good bit of reminiscing along the path, since the first books I read and studied from the LDS Church were purchased 41 years ago now. Had them in studio as well!

The Problem with the Pope

James White, June 15, 2023June 15, 2023, Christian Worldview, Church History, Homosexuality, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Transinsanity Our main discussion today was based upon Pope Francis’ kind letter to Fr. Martin and the LGBTQ folks meeting tomorrow at Fordham University. What does this letter mean, and where is Rome really going today? The alleged “certainty” that flows from the claim of Papal authority is a two-edged sword that really ends up showing us that Rome’s “constancy” is a myth. It cannot be maintained. Spent a good bit of time talking about his death penalty stance as well as an illustration. Just over an hour. [Please note: I got so involved with the capital punishment discussion I completely forgot that we needed to get to Leighton Flowers and Colossians 2:12. Next time!]

Solo Flight #2: Christ’s Reign, Derek Webb’s Darkness, Answering Leighton Flowers

James White, June 8, 2023June 8, 2023, Christian Worldview, Eschatology, Exegesis, Homosexuality, Persecution, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Provisionism, The Dividing Line, Transinsanity Was running solo again today but managed to dive into a number of topics as well as get into the original language texts on topics such as Paul’s use of Psalm 2, 8, 110, and the nature of Christ’s kingdom and reign. We also talked a bit about Derek Webb’s deep dive into spiritual darkness, and finished up looking at a question Leighton Flowers asked two years ago about Christ’s sheep.

My First Solo Flight on the Dividing Line!

I ran everything myself today, so even I am interested in how it turned out! Covered a lot of current events driven topics, which, being June, included a lot of cultural stuff, the sufficiency of Scripture, legal cases, the SBC, that kind of stuff. Touched lightly on eschatology, law, etc. Just over an hour in length.

Thinking Through the Ugandan Controversy

James White, June 1, 2023June 1, 2023, Christian Worldview, Homosexuality, Persecution, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, The Dividing Line, Transinsanity It is very sad that the the Church does not speak with a unified voice in the modern world. Yet it remains our duty to think through, as Christians, the key issues we are facing in this world gone insane with its destructive rebellion. Today we looked at the comparison of a progressivist, “liberal” view on homosexuality with the comments of Russell Moore on the Ugandan law prohibiting homosexuality.

What are We Conserving? What are we Debating?

James White, May 30, 2023May 30, 2023, Christian Worldview, Church Fathers, Church History, Debate, Homosexuality, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Transinsanity Started off with some thoughts on Ted Cruz’s tweet about Uganda and Charlie Kirk’s comments about conservatism. What are we supposed to be conserving if such basic, foundational truths as family and marriage are negotiable? Then we looked at an article Catholic Answers published last year in response to the “White Question” and then finished up talking about debates (as a long thread had developed in Twitter on the topic).

Helping Joe Rogan Know the Truth

Some folks were kind enough to link me to examples of Joe Rogan repeat common mythology about how the Bible was collected, the canon, Constantine, etc., so I took the time today to deal with those issues, as well as respond to a number of claims made in one clip as Rogan interviewed Lawrence Krauss, a well known atheist and former professor at ASU.I think Joe Rogan would benefit greatly from viewing my 2009 debate with Bart Ehrman, found here.

A Few Reflections on Forty Years, John Pavlovitz and the Sin of Homophobia

I was Chris Arnzen’s guest on Iron Sharpens Iron today, and then 15 minutes later we did the Dividing Line. I am in Tucumcari, New Mexico, making my way home in the mobile command center, truly enjoying our new studio, Starlink web access, etc. Despite some pretty strong thunderstorms we maintained connection and discussed forty years of ministry in the first half hour before looking at an article by “progressivist” John Pavlovitz on the sin of Christian homophobia. Talked a bit about how we can use the coming Month of Debauchery to press forward the claims of King Jesus.

Road Trip Dividing Line: It Wasn’t Broke, We Fixed It Anyway

James White, May 18, 2023May 18, 2023, Church Fathers, Church History, Debate, Homosexuality, Personal, Road Trip, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Thomism Ok, so its a bit herky jerky at the start but it clears up after about 20 minutes. – RichSo I was a bit worried when Rich said he was going to do something different–and this time I was right. The first part of the program is, well, sadly, not overly useful. I talked with Pastor Derrick Melton about his ministry, my many visits to Pryor, and his knife making skills. Unfortunately, most of that won’t work for you. You can skip past all the problems by going to this time stamp. From there we addressed a little Andy Stanley, the upcoming Women’s Conference at the SBC, and then I addressed the comments made by Matthew Barrett and Carl Trueman on the new Credo Podcast, which you won’t know about if you have ever challenged them at all, since they went on a blocking spree on Twitter today. But it is important to see this move to create a new ecumenism based upon dividing over Thomistic metaphysical formulations rather than, well, the gospel. Troubling times indeed!

A Starlink Dividing Line!

James White, May 16, 2023May 16, 2023, Christian Worldview, Eschatology, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Road Trip, Technology, The Dividing Line, Transinsanity I cannot tell you how excited I am! I had always hoped Starlink would be a way for us to do what we need to do as far as Internet access while traveling, but we had real latency problems with it. Well, we decided to just try today and see what happened…and it not only worked perfectly for an hour long Dividing Line, I then did a 90 minute program with Eli Ayala on Mormonism again without any problem! Bravo Elon Musk! So, today I talked about the Culture of Life, the polar opposite of the culture of death that is destroying Western Society, and how we, as Christians, need to live and speak consistently with that Culture of Life.
