Thanksgiving First Half, Tradition Over Time Second Half

Spent the first half of the program looking at the centrality of thanksgiving as a Christian virtue, attitude, and action, and then looked briefly at a recent convert story, and then a tweet on the perpetual virginity of Mary that led to a whole discussion of how traditions develop and why we must be able to examine them by Scripture.

Mormonism’s Capitulation, Open Phones with Great Calls

We started off with the Senate’s consideration of the evil “Respect for Marriage Act,” which, of course, is the Disrespect for Marriage Act, and how the LDS leadership in Salt Lake City capitulated on basic Christian belief on the matter by favoring the passage of the bill. Then we took great calls on what it is to be Reformed, the need to be part of the local church, Matthew 24:36 and what the “hour” is referring to, a great call from Mwansa in Lusaka, Zambia on dealing with the “cage stage,” and finally Matthew asking about the salvation of “all of Israel.” I directed Matthew to this sermon I preached at Apologia Church recently, and this sermon delivered by Dr. Sam Waldron. Enjoy!

An Unplanned, Early Morning Dividing Line

We messed up planning the timing on recording a new Sweater Vest Dialogue with Doug Wilson, so, instead of pushing the day back an hour, we jumped on it and snuck in a quick Dividing Line before recording the SVD (which will be on the topic of Christian Nationalism). Rambled a good bit looking at the “election” in Maricopa County (sad I have to start referring to that once sacred activity the way we looked at “elections” in communist nations in decades past, but that is the reality), worldview issues, and then, right toward the end, the “flow” of theology from, or into, Scripture.

Post Election Thoughts (Rebels Hate God), Van Til and the Use of Evidence (Matt Walsh)

Two distinct portions to the program today, the first thoughts after the mid-term elections in the United States (we are a broken and rebellious nation), the second about the use of evidence and presuppositional apologetics somewhat connected to Matt Walsh’s appearance with Joe Rogan. I made mention of an online seminar coming up this weekend put on by Eli Ayala featuring folks like Jason Lisle, and you can find information about that here.

Australian Birth Crash, Gospel Names, Exegesis and Theology

James White, November 7, 2022November 7, 2022, Christian Worldview, Exegesis, Homosexuality, Post-Evangelicalism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Thomism Started off with a quick look at the simple crash in Australian live births in December of 2021–hmm, what could explain that I wonder? Then we talked about what seems like a really silly objection to the faith and how to turn it into a door-opening gospel presentation. Then I finished looking at the second in a series of articles from Baptist Dogmatics, here they our brothers seek to offer some kind of a theological “exegesis” of Matthew 24:36 which turns out to be nothing more than a theologizing of the text. Finished up with a brief recognition of the soon debut of the 1946 movie. I made mention of a sermon I gave on this topic to prepare our people for this very movie’s release here, and here and here are Dividing Lines we have done, also to prepare you to be a good witness at this time.

Dr. Turek on Calvinism Taking the “Easy” Way, Pope Francis, and Others You’d Never Expect, Say “Go to Thomas!”

Responded to a brief clip of Dr. Frank Turek talking with Leighton Flowers about Calvinists and evangelism, and then read an article on Pope Francis telling everyone to “go to Thomas.” This led to a lengthy discussion of further developments in the Thomistic Downgrade amongst the Reformed. An hour and 15 minutes.
