James White

The Socinians Are Amongst Us! Or Are They?

Today I responded to the “storm of love” of 2022, the past 48 hours of nastiness expressed toward me by a wide range of well known Reformed men. Cutting through the verbiage and emotions, we got to the key issues. Lots of folks are asking, “Why is this happening?” Well, hopefully today’s program will help clarify some things. Enjoy!

A Little Skillet, A Lot of Aquinas

Started off with a fun story about being Official Theologian for Skillet, then we had to get serious. Looked at John 14:28 for a few minutes, and then had to start responding to the Credo article featuring Dr. VanDrunen. Paused that to work through Aquinas’ commentary on Romans 4:6-8 as an illustration. More to come!

James White is Teaching Heresy!

Started off with some thoughts on the means God has given us to communicate the faith to the coming generations (hint: holy Scripture), and then finally got around to Matthew 24:36 and the published allegation that I am teaching heresy regarding my understanding of that difficult text. Almost 90 minutes.

Dobbs, Thomas, and Calls

Started off pondering the level of evil displayed in the demonic screeching filling the land in response to the Dobbs decision, then moved to an analysis of Thomas Aquinas’ comments on Romans 4 and again the question, is this the Great Tradition? Then took calls on a super wide variety of topics, such as explaining the Trinity to a child, foundational topics to teach teens today, biblical parenting, looking down the corridor of time, mind and will in the Trinity, translating “thelo” from Greek, and finally advice for a Disney cast member! Two hours and four minutes!

The Work After Dobbs, Lots of Church History, Nicea, and More.

Started off, sort of necessarily, looking at the Dobbs decision and the fall out, looking back on my own work in that area since 1989. Then moved to the vicious circularity of the Confessional Bibliology position, and moved from there into a lengthy discussion of the Council of Nicea, and then to an attempt to define the Great Tradition. Over 90 minutes today! Tags: Featured-ReformedThomism

The Redskins and Totalitarianism, and Just What IS the Great Tradition?

Started off with the Jack Del Rio story and the fact that we truly are living in the days of totalitarianism. Secular totalitarianism is the worst, as we will soon see. But then we moved to ask a question, “What is the Great Tradition?” A new movement has arisen in Reformed ranks, and especially amongst Reformed Baptists, touting the importance and necessity of “the Great Tradition.” But…what is it? Fact is, nobody really knows. And I document that by skipping over the “I will quote my favorite modern source” silliness and going directly to primary sources, in this case, the documents of the Second Council of Nicea (787). I invite my Great Tradition Baptists to respond from the same materials rather than just sub-tweeting pious platitudes. Enjoy!
