Started off telling the story of Calvin and Sadoleto, one of the most important interactions in the early period of the Reformation, and then using Calvin’s response as a spring-board to look at a number of other relevant issues today once again related to sola scriptura, tradition, etc. 90 minutes. We also live-streamed for the first time on Twitch, which, I am told, is mainly for gamers. One commented at the end of the program, “Worst game stream ever.” Yes, I’m sure it was!

WHO Treaty then Church History Is a Bit Messy
James White, May 17, 2022May 17, 2022, Church Fathers, Church History, Eastern Orthodoxy, Exegesis, Persecution, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Baptist Issues, Roman Catholicism, Textual Issues, The Dividing Line, Thomism Started off with the tremendous danger of the current push to establish a global “pandemic authority” by treaty that would basically (I know this sounds crazy but…it isn’t) made Bill Gate king of the world. Seriously, whether your three year old child would have to be injected with untested, dangerous potions would be decided by someone five thousand miles away who was never elected and has no accountability to anyone. Must fight this insanity. Then we really changed gears and started talking church history, the “Great Tradition,” and important, related issues. I wanted to get into hermeneutics as well, but ran out of time. Did some reading of Fulgentius and Irenaeus as well. Fun for all!

On Emotionalism, the Accusation of Socinianism, Further Clarifications on Exegesis and Sola Scriptura
James White, May 26, 2022May 26, 2022, Church History, Exegesis, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Apologetics, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Thomism We had to move the program around a bit today, and I ended up having to do it from home, so my apologies for needing to deal with “providential hindrances.” Started off extending our sincere condolences to Doug Wilson, his family and everyone associated with Christ Church in the passing of his dear father last evening, Jim Wilson. Here is a nice tribute. Then we talked a bit about wisdom and emotionalism, and the decay of the West. Then I responded to an accusation on the Puritanboard that I am becoming a Socinian (seriously!), and finished up with some more clarifications from Tuesday’s program (which, I predict, will be ignored by many). Kept her to an hour today!

Calvinsim vs Molinism on Unbelievable?
Calvinism and Molinism are two very different ways of understanding God’s sovereignty. But which one best addresses the problem of evil? James White argues that Calvinism – God foreordaining all human behaviour both good and evil – is the more Biblical and coherent view. William (Bill) Lane Craig argues that Molinism – a view which reconciles human freedom and divine sovereignty – is Biblically consistent without making God the author of evil.
