A Multi-Faceted Dividing Line
James White, March 16, 2023March 16, 2023, Abortion, Christian Worldview, Church Fathers, Church History, Debate, Exegesis, Homosexuality, Pastoral Theology, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Baptist Issues, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Thomism Covered a wide variety of things yet again on the program today, so a little something for everyone. Started off with the new Roman Catholic apologetics book against Scripture titled, “The Obscurity of Scripture,” and talked a bit about the obscurity not of Scripture, but of Rome itself. We also spent some time reading through Schaff’s discussion of Pope Honorius. Then we moved over to the topic of my sermon from Sunday at Apologia and considered the suffocating application of external philosophical systems when it comes to the breadth and depth of divine revelation. Talked for a while about the upcoming Saddleback appeal with the SBC, and finished off with a quick review of the incredibly childish comments of the Lt. Governor of Minnesota. Philippians 2, the Carmen Christi, and Accusations of Kenotic Heresy
James White, April 21, 2022April 21, 2022, Exegesis, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Offense, Pauline Studies, Personal, Road Trip, The Dividing Line, Thomism In our third program from up here in Moscow, Idaho, we did a deep dive into Philippians 2, the great “Carmen Christi,” considering its meaning and application in a number of contexts. That was the majority of the program, but when I responded to the accusation of “kenotic heresy” on my part by Pastor Josh Sommer, demonstrating that the allegation is utterly without merit.

WHO Treaty then Church History Is a Bit Messy
James White, May 17, 2022May 17, 2022, Church Fathers, Church History, Eastern Orthodoxy, Exegesis, Persecution, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Baptist Issues, Roman Catholicism, Textual Issues, The Dividing Line, Thomism Started off with the tremendous danger of the current push to establish a global “pandemic authority” by treaty that would basically (I know this sounds crazy but…it isn’t) made Bill Gate king of the world. Seriously, whether your three year old child would have to be injected with untested, dangerous potions would be decided by someone five thousand miles away who was never elected and has no accountability to anyone. Must fight this insanity. Then we really changed gears and started talking church history, the “Great Tradition,” and important, related issues. I wanted to get into hermeneutics as well, but ran out of time. Did some reading of Fulgentius and Irenaeus as well. Fun for all!
