Spent time at the start talking about Jerald and Sandra Tanner and the Utah Lighthouse Ministry’s years of faithfulness in light of Sandra’s retirement. Then we looked at Biden’s absurd rhetoric on the profaning of marriage, looked at Phil Vischer’s joining in that same absurdity, and then we talked about the German study documenting the direct correlation of mRNA vaccines and sudden deaths in Germany. Finished with a discussion of year end giving as well.

A Multi-Faceted Dividing Line
James White, March 16, 2023March 16, 2023, Abortion, Christian Worldview, Church Fathers, Church History, Debate, Exegesis, Homosexuality, Pastoral Theology, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Reformed Baptist Issues, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Thomism Covered a wide variety of things yet again on the program today, so a little something for everyone. Started off with the new Roman Catholic apologetics book against Scripture titled, “The Obscurity of Scripture,” and talked a bit about the obscurity not of Scripture, but of Rome itself. We also spent some time reading through Schaff’s discussion of Pope Honorius. Then we moved over to the topic of my sermon from Sunday at Apologia and considered the suffocating application of external philosophical systems when it comes to the breadth and depth of divine revelation. Talked for a while about the upcoming Saddleback appeal with the SBC, and finished off with a quick review of the incredibly childish comments of the Lt. Governor of Minnesota. The Redskins and Totalitarianism, and Just What IS the Great Tradition?
Started off with the Jack Del Rio story and the fact that we truly are living in the days of totalitarianism. Secular totalitarianism is the worst, as we will soon see. But then we moved to ask a question, “What is the Great Tradition?” A new movement has arisen in Reformed ranks, and especially amongst Reformed Baptists, touting the importance and necessity of “the Great Tradition.” But…what is it? Fact is, nobody really knows. And I document that by skipping over the “I will quote my favorite modern source” silliness and going directly to primary sources, in this case, the documents of the Second Council of Nicea (787). I invite my Great Tradition Baptists to respond from the same materials rather than just sub-tweeting pious platitudes. Enjoy!

Sam Gipp Versus the KJV Translators, Mormonism Review Including the Book of Abraham
Spent a few moments at the start of today’s program looking at a clip from Sam Gipp where he says all translational decisions were finished and completed in 1611, something the KJV translators would have righty mocked. Then we dove into Isaiah and Jeremiah for key texts to present to Mormons, then took a brief look at the Book of Abraham, one of the clearest examples of the fact that Joseph Smith was most assuredly not a prophet of God. Over 90 minutes today!
