I am still stuck in Salt Lake by this wicked winter storm that has buried me in snow and ice. I will have to be digging out in the morning as I need to get going, but it will be tricky! Anyway, talked a bit about some of the great men I’ve gotten to know in ministry as I got to attend the 25 year celebration for Pastor Jason Wallace here in Salt Lake last evening. Gave some thoughts on that matter before briefly commenting on some of the “Christian Nationalism” conversation, and then turning to some comments from Barrett and (seemingly) Fesko on the “Great Tradition.”

Road Trip DL: About Asking Your Debate Opponent to Actually Interpret a Bible Verse
We took the time today to go back over the controversy that has developed when I asked my debate opponent Saturday afternoon to tell us what one of the key texts on the atonement (and in my opening statement) actually means, and he refused to do so. I played the audio of the exchange, put the text on the screen, and we invested an hour and 15 minutes on the topic (after some introductory topics). Not sure if we will be able to squeeze another show in this week, as I am teaching at GBTS Thursday through Saturday.

Upcoming Debate Thoughts, Jesse Duplantis, Thabiti Anyabwile
Well, OK, it was just a few days ago. But I forgot to blog the program. When that happens, remember, the file name is always consistent! For example, this DL’s URL is http://store.aomin.org/catalogsearch/result/?q=20091231. Next Tuesday’s DL will be http://store.aomin.org/catalogsearch/result/?q=20100105, and so forth. In any case, I started off discussing a bit about Islam and the Christmas day disaster in Detroit

No EFS, Predicate Adjectives and Scripture, the God Who Works All Things
Three topics today: first, a clear, unambiguous statement (again) that I do not, and never have, held to any form of EFS/ERAS theology, and if anyone tells you otherwise, they don’t know what they are talking about. Second, is it “every Scripture is God-breathed” or “every God-breathed Scripture is profitable”? And why does it matter? And third, are present tense finite verbs in Romans 8:28 and Ephesians 1:11 opposed to Reformed theology? Get a deep seat!
