Are the Bad Things That Happen In This Life A Part of God’s Will?
Episode 538 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com 1. We’re struggling to decide whether we should go to a church where we don’t feel as comfortable or to one that we can agree with theologically. Do you have any advice? 2. If God exists, does that mean we have to assume everything that happens is what he wants to happen? 3. How do you understand Revelation 18:11–13? I have seen this section of Scripture floating around and people saying that it teaches that the Bible is against slavery because it associates the end of slavery with the fall of Babylon. Does this passage condemn slavery? And if it does how do you make sense of the bible allowing for slavery in the Old Testament? 4. What does Hebrews 12:22 mean? Did that church have a vision of heaven or something? How Can the Church Welcome Those Who Mourn?
Episode 462 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today’s show: 1. In Christian circles we often make a distinction between temptation and sin, almost at the expense of downplaying temptation as morally neutral. However, since temptations come from our own sinful desires (James 1), is the desire for something sinful, itself sinful? For example, are homosexual desires sinful? Are these desires the same thing as sexual orientation, or is that a man-mad and unbiblical definition? 2. Do you believe it is possible for someone to lose their salvation? If so, do you believe they can lose it to the point of no return? In Hebrews 6 it speaks about, “It is impossible to bring those people back who have tasted the goodness of God, to renew them to repentance.” And also in Matthew, it talks about blaspheming the Holy Spirit, that it would not be forgiven them. 3. What happened to all those in OT times, who were unaware of Israel and Israel’s God? Where did they spend eternity? And what happens in eternity to folks in NT times that are not aware of the gospel? Would love to have scripture answers on this. 4. I feel very jealous and envious of the other Christians at church. It is so painful for me because I had a daughter who died by suicide a few years ago. Mainly, I’m just having such a hard time with my jealousy and envy with happy Christians when I don’t feel the same way. I’m embarrassed to even admit this. I don’t tell my husband or my children any of this. I feel like a terrible person. I feel like God is disappointed with me for feeling this way. I pray all the time. I read the Bible. I’m a Christian. I love Jesus. I’m just a loner. Is It Normal For Christians To Worry About Eternity?
Episode 437 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today’s show: 1. My question is about Paul teaching on praying in the Spirit. Near as I can figure, it’s not praying in tongues. They are a gift and not everyone has the same gifts, so, can you explain what praying in the Spirit is, and, better yet, how to do it? I feel like I’m missing something here, or I’m misunderstanding the text. Can you help me to understand this way to pray? Paul said it was necessary to overcome the attacks of the evil ones if i understand him correctly. 2. I listened to you guys every day. Just want to thank you for the job you guys do. I do have a question. I have a friend who’s a Mormon, another friend who’s a Jehovah’s Witness, and I know that they believe some things that run contrary to the Bible, I’m just wondering how I can use their own literature, their own books, their own material, to proclaim the true gospel of Christ. 3. Is it normal for a Christian to worry and about their eternity? I believe in Christ’s death for my sins but honestly I still worry. And therefore I question my salvation. 4. Will we have work or vocations in heaven? 5. My question is about the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit. I was wondering if you could touch on the fact of what that entails, and if it’s possible that somebody can be guilty of that. I had a voice in my head that was accusing me of blaspheming. And I haven’t really talked to anybody that has a solid answer for me. So I was wondering if you could touch upon that. Thank you very much.
