Is God In Control or Is the World Subject to the Evil One?
Episode 463 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today’s show: 1. What is the purpose of meeting as a body of Christ? Because COVID-19 has restricted our fellowship, there was a discussion this week among some of the men in my church who question why we would even attend service if they couldn’t fellowship with others. In that vein, some articulated that the sole purpose of our meeting on Sunday was for fellowship. The word and sacraments were not included in the discussion. I would like to have a biblical source for the understanding of the purpose of meeting as a church body. 2. In the last words of the Old Testament, Malachi, says, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” When Jesus first came, that was not the great and dreadful day. That is when Jesus comes back with wrath. So Elijah couldn’t be John the Baptist. Who is this Elijah? 3. As Christians, is it appropriate for us to pray the imprecatory Psalms? How does this square with praying for the salvation of those who mean to do us harm or have done harm? I’m thinking about those who slander Christians and who push for abortion or other things that do great harm to society as a whole. 4. We always say that God is in control of everything. My question has to do with 1 John 5:19 where states, “The whole world is in the power of the evil one.” This seems contradictory. I don’t understand that. Will It All Work Out in the End?
Episode 428 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today’s show: 1. What was Moses intending to communicate to us in the account of Balaam and the talking donkey? 2. I’m a military veteran. I was baptized. I was anointed before leaving for my first tour in Iraq. I believe in Jesus but I’m trying to find that feeling that I know everything is going to be okay and that I’m in the right place. But I’m having trouble finding it. I’m just looking for some advice on how I can turn and get closer to God. Any advice will be helpful. 3. I have two friends. They’re my co-workers. And they are not believers, but they are getting married next year in March. They have asked me if I am willing to marry them as a notary, although it would be in their ceremony, their wedding ceremony. So my question to you is, is it biblical for me to do so? I am a Christian myself, so I would just like to know if it’s a sin against God, I guess is what I’m trying to say if I am marrying two unbelievers as a notary. 4. At the end of Genesis, Jacob says a blessing over each of his sons before he dies. How was the original audience of the book of Genesis meant to understand and apply these words of blessing said over the patriarchs of their tribes, and what, as Christians, are we meant to walk away with?
