The Founders Ministry Cinedoc
BONUS EPISODE! We knew Founders Ministries was working on a documentary of sorts, and they have finally released the trailer. And it turns out that while some people liked it, we noticed a lot more social media push-back against it. By What Standard? God’s World, God’s Rules looks to take on the social justice movement, women preachers, and liberalism (among other issues), and the trailers makes it appear that they are putting several well-known Southern Baptists in their cross hairs. Many have taken issue with the pulled quotes and placed in unfair contexts, and perhaps the greatest number of complaints centered around the use of Rachael Denhollander in the trailer. Three SBC seminary presidents, who are listed as “featured” participants in the doc, quickly posted their disapproval of the trailer on social media. Dr. Daniel Akin of SEBTS went so far as to ask to be entirely removed from the documentary. Dr. Albert Mohler of SBTS and Dr. James K. Allan of MBTS also expressed disappointment with what Founders Ministries has released. So what do Joe and Jimmy think? Will Jimmy have to apologize? Again? Plus, Joe nicknames Jimmy, “Tone Loc.” Get all the links and show notes at www.doctrineanddevotion.com/podcast/cinedocSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/doctrine-and-devotion/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

The James MacDonald Story
The big news in evangelicalism as of late has been the controversy surrounding James MacDonald and the church he planted, Harvest Bible Chapel. There have been numerous accusations from former elders, past and current members, and even a popular radio personality. It’s been covered by both secular and Christian media outlets and the local news has been reporting on the drama as it continued to unfold. James was recently fired by the elders of Harvest Bible Chapel, and other leadership is now resigning. Today, Jimmy and Joe talk through the history of James and Harvest Bible Chapel, and offer some encouragement to the many current and former members of the church as they seek to move forward following Jesus.
