How Much of the Old Testament is About Jesus?

Episode 603 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. CoreChristianity.com   Show Notes   1. I want to be a Christian, but I am not sure how. Can you please help me? 2. Could you explain Mark 2:21-22 for me please? 3. I know in my head that God is good and uses things for His Glory, but both myself and my daughter have learning disabilities that make life very difficult. Why would God allow that and how can it possibly be used for His Glory? Thank you. 4. In Hosea 11:1, where it says, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son,” is it referring to Jesus or Israel? I have heard pastors argue for both interpretations. It seems that if all of these Old Testament texts were only about Jesus than the Israelites in the Old Testament would not have actually known what they were about. What do you think?

Does Christmas Have Pagan Origins?

Show Notes

1. Fear is very real these days and how do we as Christians, believers in Christ, keep our faith in these uncertain times. How can we connect our faith to very real and palpable fear that we feel in the world around us?

2. What is the “gospel of the kingdom” that Jesus preached in Matthew 4:23? It sounds as if it is something different from the common use of the phrase “the gospel” or “the gospel of Jesus Christ” as it is used today.

3. I am scared to death that I have committed the unforgivable sin. I heard one explanation of this saying that the unforgivable sin is simply denying Christ and then I heard that it is saying the same things that the religious leaders said about Jesus. Can you help clarify this for me?

4. I love and appreciate Core Christianity, thank you both for all that you do. My question is: Is it true that Christmas is rooted in a pagan holiday? And if we want to celebrate the incarnation, then why does our celebration often look like the world’s celebration of Christmas?

Why It's OK to Have a Boring Testimony

Episode 600 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. CoreChristianity.com   Show Notes   1. Why are the four beasts in Daniel’s dream different than what is explained in Revelation? 2. Since God is all-knowing, and since He also sent His Son for us, for whom or for what, precisely, is Jesus interceding? 3. If I had spiritual mentors who led me the wrong way, and told me to do things that were wrong, did I sin too? At the time I was very naive, and still am because I have Asperger Syndrome. But now I know it was wrong, and I wonder about verses like Mark 9:42 and Leviticus 5:17. 4. If the purpose of the cross was to redeem man and forgive sins, why do we see Jesus in the gospels forgiving people’s sins? Why did Jesus need to go to the cross at all if he could forgive sins on earth? 5. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins and was raised from the dead. My life is full of testimony, but I struggle with whether or not I have been made new. I do not have an awe-inspiring origin story of when I initially gave my life to Christ. I started to volunteer with youth, and I want to be positive and careful with what light I can shine. Does the Law Condemn or Guide Us?

Episode 599 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. CoreChristianity.com   Show Notes   1. Why did Jesus curse the fig tree? 2. Since Islam is an Abrahamic religion, does that mean that it is really a false religion? 3. Is the 3rd-use of the law legitimate? It seems that if people have a good sense of justification by faith alone that the 3rd use of the law is not necessary. 4. If Moses’s sister Miriam received leprosy from God in the Old Testament, does that mean God can punish people with sickness today?   Today’s Offer Inner Core Request our latest special offers here or call 1-833-THE-CORE (833-843-2673) to request them by phone. What to Say When Friends Follow Charlatans

Episode 598 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. CoreChristianity.com   Show Notes   1. How do I deal with a Christian friend who has fallen for a lot of false teaching and is absolutely not teachable and gets offended if I don’t agree with them? 2. If God will blot out our sins, why do we have to give an account for every word that we speak? 3. What is the biblical distinction between the spirit and the soul? What role do the heart and mind play in this relationship or distinction? 4. My daughter told me about a lecture she heard in her college class where the professor said that God the Father in Christianity functions as a way to maintain patriarchalist structures in society, which causes harm to women. My daughter doesn?t seem convinced by her professor?s analysis, but I am wondering if there is a way to encourage her and affirm that God being a good Father doesn?t have to mean what the professor seems to be saying. Why the Book of Revelation is Not a Code to be Cracked

Episode 597 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. CoreChristianity.com   Show Notes   1. I grew up in a church that would go into a lot of details about the book of Revelation trying to discern if we were living in the last days and what it all meant, but in all those years I never understood the point or the big picture of what the book is about. What is the main thing I should get from reading the book? 2. What role do good works play in a Christian’s life as it relates to the final judgment? 3. Does God sometimes leave us to struggle in our own sin? I’ve struggled with a certain sin for a long time, and I have prayed countless times that God lead me from the temptation and that the sin wouldn’t have the hold on me that it has, and I still feel the same. I feel almost as if God is purposely having me struggle through it. Can you give me any advice? 4. If we find ourselves breaking the 10 Commandments, does that mean we need to try harder to put our trust in Christ and simply repent more often?
