How Do I Regain a Passion to Study the Bible?
Episode 405 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today’s show: 1. I’m a new believer. Jesus came from heaven to come down to be on earth did he know he was going to be resurrected and go back to heaven or did he come down only thinking he was going to die? 2. What should I do when my joy and passion to read the Bible has faded? 3. This week I was reading the Bible looking for answers. I have been struggling with ongoing sin. I struggle with lust. I came across a passage that gave me some hope of victory but I’m not sure how to apply it. Colossians 1:29, “For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” How can I see God work powerfully within me in this area of my life? 4. On several episodes you have talked about the difference between the law and the gospel. I’m a bit confused. If we are forgiven does that mean that the law no longer applies to us? 5. How do you understand the great commission? Does the call to go apply to everyone; and what does Jesus mean when he says that he will be with us? 6. I’m Jewish but I’m a believer in Jesus the Messiah. I have always struggled with how Jews were saved before Jesus came. And is there salvation for Jews without Jesus? And I know in revelation it says that he does save a remnant of Israel. Thanks. Is Satan to Blame for the Problems in the World?
Episode 469 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today’s show: 1. Do we need to speak in tongues under the Holy Spirit in order to be received by the Father in heaven? 2. In Ezekiel 40, God shows Ezekiel a vision of a temple. What temple is this, since the measurements do not fit the temples built under Ezra and Nehemiah,or by Herod? Now that there is no need for sacrifice because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, and there will not be a temple in heaven, what is the purpose of this vision? Where does this fit into prophetic history from Ezekiel’s standpoint? 3. A good friend of mine often says that Satan is the source of the problems we face in life. For example, her sister who is not a believer is going through a divorce, and she often says Satan is to blame and he wants to destroy marriages. Another scenario would be when she feels depressed. She will say that it’s the Enemy. I would like to better understand what the Bible says about Satan’s role in our sufferings. I do believe that Satan and the spiritual forces of evil are at work in the world, but if Satan can’t be everywhere at once, how can we blame him for all our problems? What is the meaning of Ephesians 6:10–20 and how can we apply that to our lives as Christians? 4. I’m concerned that I had a dream last night and the Lord gave me a message. His message was, “Your faith is as sand.” Should I be worried that the Lord is trying to tell me that I am a weak Christian or that he is not happy with how I am living my life? I try to be a good Christian and live a clean life, but maybe there is something more I need to do.
