Road Trip DL from Baton Rouge

Covered the vast wide countryside of theology and apologetics today, including a review of the Free Speech Apocalypse movie (and some non-spoiler comments about The Martian!), a brief listen to one of the candidates for the Kentucky Baptist Convention presidency, one of the audience questions from the recent atheist debate, and finally, after a bit more wandering about, nearly an

The Redskins and Totalitarianism, and Just What IS the Great Tradition?
Started off with the Jack Del Rio story and the fact that we truly are living in the days of totalitarianism. Secular totalitarianism is the worst, as we will soon see. But then we moved to ask a question, “What is the Great Tradition?” A new movement has arisen in Reformed ranks, and especially amongst Reformed Baptists, touting the importance and necessity of “the Great Tradition.” But…what is it? Fact is, nobody really knows. And I document that by skipping over the “I will quote my favorite modern source” silliness and going directly to primary sources, in this case, the documents of the Second Council of Nicea (787). Road Trip DL from Santa Fe
James White, June 27, 2023June 27, 2023, Gospel/Jesus Studies, Persecution, Personal, Post-Evangelicalism, Road Trip, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters, Unitarianism Had to record the program today due to the location I am at in Santa Fe (possibly due to weather issues as well, not completely sure). Talked about the Australian legislation being proposed to give the state pretty much full control over speech and how we have taken our eyes off the ball as the totalitarians continue their global march. Then we switched over to a discussion that took place last year between William Lane Craig and unitarian Dale Tuggy. We will be doing a deep dive on Tuggy’s claims and positions over the next number of weeks and months. You might want to familiarize yourself with his views! You might also want to see Michael Brown’s debate with Tuggy here, and Chris Date’s interaction here.

Scripture and Tradition
Today we mainly looked at the first chapter of the London Baptist Confession of Faith and its beautiful and important testimony to the inspiration and sufficiency of Scripture. Hopefully encouraging for us all! I did look at a few statements made by folks at the beginning of the show, but tried to keep most of them relevant to the over-all topic.
