Road Trippin to G3: Preview of G3 and Debate Report

Started off looking at a few odd comments made in the textual arena since last week, then moved on to two clips from Jimmy Akin, one on prayer to the dead, the other on predestination and election, and another “I think the Greek says” error from Mr. Akin. Then we looked at a quote from Greg Koukl’s new book, Tactics.

Road Trip Two: WLC and Adam, the Baptism Debates Rage On
James White, September 25, 2021September 25, 2021, Church History, Debate, Federal Vision, Reformed Apologetics, Reformed Baptist Issues, Road Trip, The Dividing Line We chose to record today’s DL just in case the connection went wonky and broke up. But, it didn’t, and we managed to get about 70 minutes in today, mainly on two topics (with a brief trip report at the start). First, we discussed William Lane Craig, his views on Adam, and why this is pretty much just par for the course given the long interaction we have had with Dr. Craig’s foundational positions. Then we addressed the baptism debate, raging yet once again due to Jared Longshore’s departure from Founders due to his embracing of paedobaptism. Hopefully balanced and useful observations of the key issues in the debate, at least as the debate rages between Presbyterians and Reformed Baptists. I think that debate is very, very different than the debate with, for example, Lutherans on the same topic.

Frozen Road Trip Dividing Line
Started off with a little report on the desert rat traveling in sub-freezing weather, then discussed such things as Joe Rogan, Provisionism, guys pretending to be gals, Biden’s inevitable ultra-leftist SCOTUS appointment and the danger of self-driving cars. Quite a range of things!

John 5, 17, and Starting with Scripture as Our Only Reliable Foundation
James White, April 20, 2022April 20, 2022, Church Fathers, Church History, Exegesis, Reformed Baptist Issues, Road Trip, Roman Catholicism, The Dividing Line, Thomism Snuck another program in up here in Moscow, looking in-depth at John 5 and John 17 in reference to the Scriptural testimony to the relationship of Father and Son. Commented along the way on “Classical Theism’s” obfuscation of Biblical truths and serious concerns about the development of this new “Baptist Scholasticism,” which, by its adherents, is a “recovery of classical theism.”
